Vice President of Strategy and Integration
As vice president of Strategy and Integration and a member of The Permanente Medical Group’s (TPMG) executive leadership team, Margaret Lapiz provides strategic leadership in multiple areas including finance, operations, capital, communications, human resources and technology adoption.
Appointed to the role in 2000, her responsibilities include overseeing a $300 million annual operating budget. She also plays a critical role in determining how the medical group’s annual revenues are allocated across the care delivery system and how Kaiser Permanente can best invest over $1 billion each year in new capital construction. Over the past decade, Lapiz has been instrumental in Kaiser Permanente’s expansion plans including the construction of 11 hospitals and the addition of medical office facilities in 15 communities across Northern California. She is the executive with primary accountability for TPMG’s efforts in a number of areas including the TPMG Leadership Institute, diversity, physician health and wellness, and Live Well Be Well, Kaiser Permanente’s nationally recognized and award-winning employee wellness approach.
In addition to her TPMG accountabilities, Lapiz is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group’s Board of Directors. Her research work with faculty at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business has resulted in the publication of papers in The Leadership Quarterly and Healthcare Management Review.
Lapiz joined TPMG in 1993 after completing both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Health from the University of California at Berkeley.
