Permanente Medicine in Action

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services named Kaiser Permanente Northern California a Million Hearts Hypertension Control Champion. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that we nearly doubled the rate of blood-pressure control among adult patients with hypertension from 2001 to 2009 through one of the largest, community-based programs in the nation.

Our Redwood City Medical Center is a regional Center of Excellence for Neuroscience and Neurosurgery. We offer a relatively new surgical procedure called Deep Brain Stimulation that involves placing tiny electrodes into the brain and connecting them to an implanted device programmed to deliver tiny electrical jolts to the brain. Each jolt essentially re-sets the muscle control area and stops tremors.
